With the New Year just a few short hours away, I thought it time to start thinking about my intentions for the year and beyond. When I get right down to it, I really only have one…
I intend, with every fiber of my being, to keep doing exactly what I am doing.
I intend to continue to live this intentional life Aaron and I have created, no matter where we are…
…to continue to explore my world with an open heart and mind…
… to continue to choose to see the light before the darkness and the beauty above the ugly.
I intend to continue to explore my connectedness to other people, our planet, and the universe…
… to continue to sort through the complexities of our shared reality….
… and to recognize every human being- no matter their religion, creed, color, gender, age, sexual preference, political bent, past wrongs, or future potential- as an individual deserving of respect and the benefit of the doubt… children wholeheartedly included.
I intend to continue to deepen my commitment to my partner in life, travel, and exploration…
… and to continue to develop myself as an individual so that I can be a better partner for him.
I intend to continue to define for myself what “education” truly means…
… to share my thoughts and my knowledge unselfishly with those who are interested…
… and to continue to search for “truth” in all its many forms.
I intend to continue to surround myself with a community of like-minded people….
… and to continue to search for the kernels of truth in opinions and beliefs that differ from my own.
I intend to continue to search for those invisible threads that bind all of humanity and to shine light on those threads when I find them…
… and to allow people their fallibility without losing sight of their continued potential to do good.
And, of course, I intend to hold onto my idealism. It is precious to me and I would be lost without it.
I like where I am at this New Year’s Eve. I like the path I am on. I like what I discovered, learned, and explored in 2013.
Yes, this year, my intention is to keep doing exactly what I am doing.
Happy New Year, friends!
